Flood Victim Aid for Beekeper (Germany)
Flood victims aid for beekeepers

It's been almost exactly one month since floods of extreme proportions hit many regions of western Germany hard. The cleanup efforts are continuing - and will keep people busy for a long time to come. The picture on the ground continues to be one of devastation. Even a month after the disaster, help is urgently needed. We have learned through conversations that many beekeepers in the flood areas have kept their bees on the much overgrown and nutrient-rich stream and river banks (e.g. Ahr banks). What is otherwise so idyllic, unfortunately became a deadly danger for many bees: The bee houses were caught by the floods. The local beekeepers are not to blame here, you are now left to mourn the loss of the beloved bees in addition to the personal fate. We are therefore all the more pleased that there are also special initiatives here that we would like to draw attention to: Billion Bees are committed to bee sponsorships (https://billionbees.net/flutopfer/ - german version).

  • As a concerned beekeeper:

If your bees were victims of the flood disaster - contact Billion Bees. They will then organize the support (Billion Bees Kontakt (contact)). If you are missing a pitch after the flood, have a look at the Spubi-Search (Spubi Suche), or contact us directly.

  • As a helpful bee lover:

Through Billion Bees or their partner Heimathonig you can easily adopt bees and thus actively support the flood victim beekeepers in rebuilding their beekeeping. (Bienenpatenschaften übernehmen(adopt bees)). If you have a pitch near the areas affected by the floods, feel free to contact Spubi and offer it (https://spubi.de/anmelden). Currently, local spaces are urgently needed.

We wish all those affected continued strength in the reconstruction of your home. We would like to thank the helpers who - in whatever way - support and help from the bottom of our hearts - let's do good together! Your Spubis
